Kitesurfing, Kiteboarding or kiting is an exciting sport, that attracts more and more people every year. By moving a kite with a control-bar in a 3-dimensional space, it is possible to ride, jump and surf on a small kite board. Kite surfing is easy to learn, a lot easier for example as windsurfing.
To learn that amazing sport it is absolutely recommendable to do so with the help of a professional kite school(especially in Tarifa, where in summer there are a lot of people), that disposes of experienced kite instructors and the right equipment for beginners to learn kiteboarding the safe way. Tarifa offers excellent conditions for kitesurfing all year round, particularly fom april to November, when it is windy in Tarifa almost every day.

Tarifa, the southernmost tip of Spain, has excellent wind all year around due to its exposed position next to Africa. Therefore and for its very relaxed lifestyle and nightlife Tarifa has become the kite capital of Europe with some of the best riders worldwide living and training here.
The most suitable wind for kitesurfing and particularly for the kite schools in Tarifa is the poniente, which blows cross-onshore from the right at the beaches of Tarifa, with a usual force of 12-22 knots. Also with levante it is possible to learn kiting; if the wind is not too strong, at the beaches of tarifa, otherwise there are other spots around, where the wind is lighter and where we go with our kite school in the off season. Levante can reach up to 50 knots, which sometimes can make kiteboarding in Tarifa impossible.
